Grievance Redressal Policy

Effective date: 16 August 2026

Last updated: 16 August 2026

Version: 3.0

This policy describes Hudood's grievance mechanism under India's Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, as amended, and the service commitments Hudood makes to users.

1. Grievance Officer

  • Name: Fiza Shaikh
  • Designation: Grievance Officer
  • Email: grievance@hudood.com
  • Telephone: +91 88288 88664
  • Correspondence address: HD-706, WeWork, Vaswani Chambers, Prabhadevi Road, Government Colony, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400051, India
  • Availability: Requests may be submitted by email or through Hudood at any time. Response clocks begin when the request is received by Hudood.

Use the subject Hudood Grievance. For urgent intimate-imagery complaints use Urgent Rule 3(2)(b) Complaint; for child safety use Child Safety - Urgent.

2. How to submit a grievance

There are three routes, and all three reach the Grievance Officer:

  • the in-app report control on the content itself, where the matter is about a specific post, comment, reel or account;
  • Help & support in the Hudood app, or Settings → Contact support on the website, which opens a tracked request with a reference you can follow and reply on; or
  • email to the Grievance Officer at the address above.

Whichever route you use, include:

  • your name and a reliable reply address;
  • the account, content URL, post ID, report reference, or other information needed to locate the matter;
  • the nature of the complaint and the rule or right involved;
  • supporting screenshots or documents that you are authorized to share; and
  • for a legal representative, evidence of authority to act.

For a Rule 3(2)(b) intimate-imagery complaint, identify the exact material and state that it depicts you or that you are authorized to act for the depicted person. Hudood may request proportionate verification while prioritizing urgent restriction of access.

3. Timelines

MatterHudood commitment
Acknowledgement of any grievanceWithin 24 hours
Disposal of a general grievanceWithin 7 days
Qualifying Rule 3(1)(b) removal complaint covered by Rule 3(2)(a)(i)Within 36 hours where the rule applies
Non-consensual intimate imagery, nudity, sexual acts, or morphed/deepfake sexual imagery covered by Rule 3(2)(b)Remove or disable access within 2 hours of receipt
Valid court order or reasoned notice from an authorized government agency under Rule 3(1)(d)Remove or disable access within 3 hours of actual knowledge

These are maximum response commitments, not a promise that every complaint will result in removal. Hudood may act faster where safety requires it.

4. Review and outcome

Hudood may ask for information needed to identify the content, verify authority, or understand the complaint. The Grievance Officer coordinates review, preserves an audit record, and communicates the outcome where lawful. Possible outcomes include no action, warning, reduced distribution, removal, feature restriction, account suspension, preservation, or referral to an authority.

Hudood will not require a requester to provide more sensitive information than is reasonably necessary. Information supplied in a grievance is used for review, safety, legal compliance, and related audit or proceedings as described in the Privacy Policy.

5. Appeals and the Grievance Appellate Committee

If you disagree with Hudood's grievance decision, first reply to the decision with any missing evidence. Where the Information Technology Rules permit an appeal to a Grievance Appellate Committee, it may be filed within 30 days through the Government's portal at https://gac.gov.in/. This does not limit access to a court or another remedy available by law.

6. Law-enforcement and emergency requests

Government and law-enforcement requests follow the Law-Enforcement and Government Request Guidelines. If a person is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services; sending an email to Hudood is not a substitute.
